As is known our primary objective is to provide state of the art, cost effective, eco-friendly houses and buildings to the Police, Jail, Home Guards and Civil Defense in Home department of Government of Maharashtra. The Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation has been consistently striving to achieve the aforementioned objective as is evident from this annual report. These projects are situated all across the state.
An array of projects completed by this Corporation in the financial year 2010-11 includes four residential projects, four non residential projects thereby making available one thousand one hundred and twenty tenements and one Police station for user department. Four residential projects, five non residential projects were ongoing while two residential projects, two non residential projects were at planning stage during the financial year 2010-11. This proves the uncanny ability and the perseverance of this Corporation to work in a professional manner to effectively accomplish its targets.
An immense landmark project for which planning was initiated in financial year 2 010-2 011 is the construction of Administrative Building and ninety six tenements for Head Quarter of Force One at Goregaon (East), Mumbai. The estimated cost of this project is Rs.64.85 Crore. This project is one of the important steps initiated by the State Government to counter terrorist activities. This project is meant to ensure quick response to deal with any kind of terror attack in urban areas. Another prestigious project that was initiated in 2010-2011 is construction of Administrative Building for Commissioner of Police Brihanmumbai at Crawford Market, Mumbai.
I am pleased to mention that the Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation is now a self sustainable organization. We do not have any loan, bonds or other liability to outside financial institutions. All construction projects are executed from the grants provided by the State Government and Central Government under state plan budget and Modernization of Police Force Scheme respectively. As far as it's administrative and establishment expenses are concerned, this Corporation is functioning without any budgetary support from Government of Maharashtra. This Corporation has lean and thin and thus functions at minimum administrative overheads.
The journey continues. We will continue to engage with our user departments. We will continue to create value for our society. And, we will continue to spur innovation. Let me assure you that we will remain committed to bringing continuous improvements in all that we do. I look forward with confidence to achieve total excellence.
